Map & Directions

► Bancroft is a two-story red brick building on Newton Street, NW between 18th and Mount Pleasant Streets (right across from our office at 1716 Newton Street, NW). The entrance is on Newton Street, through the three sets of red doors at the front of the school. Knock on the far left door and our security guard will admit you. Classes at Bancroft are held in the gym, directly across the lobby from the front door.

Driving: The best approach is from 16th Street NW. From 16th and Newton, go west 3 blocks.

▼ Heading North: Newton Street is 2.2 miles north of the White House. Once you reach Columbia Rd. continue going north for 6 blocks. Turn left on Newton. Go three blocks and park on the street or behind the school.

▼ Heading South: Newton Street is 2.2 miles south of Military Rd.  Pass Arkansas and the bridge over the park.  At the third stop light after the bridge, turn right onto Newton Street.  Go three blocks and park on the street or behind the school.

Public Transportation:

▼ Metro: The closest stop is on the Green Line, Columbia Heights. Exit to the left from the station, and walk 2 blocks west (left) to 16th Street. Turn right onto 16th Street. Walk 6 blocks north to Newton. Turn west (left) and go 3 blocks.

▼ Bus: The easiest buses are the S2 or S4.  Take either to 16th & Newton. From there, walk 3 blocks west to the school. If you take the H bus, get off at Park Road & Mt. Pleasant Ave.  Walk 2 blocks north on Mt. Pleasant, turn left and go one block west on Newton.  If you take the 42 bus, get off at Lamont & Mt. Pleasant.  Walk 3 blocks north on Mt.
