Child Beginner (Children and young teens ages 11-13)

Martial Arts:

A whole new way to achieve good grades, a positive attitude, increased focus and confidence!

Dear Parent,

The core skills of success and happiness are deep character qualities such as self-confidence, personal responsibility, respect for self and others and self-discipline. Martial arts combines these with athletic skills like fitness, coordination and flexibility, allowing your child to excel both mentally and physically!

Speaking of the physical side ... research now shows increased activity can help standardized test scores rise and can improve reading ability.  Increased physical activity has also been linked to fewer episodes of fighting and better attendance.

"It seems fitness and nutrition aren't just good for your health -- they're good for acedemic achievement as well." -- Author Melanie Guertin

At DCSDKA, we've discovered that when you combine intense physical exercise with the proper teaching of mental skills like focus and concentration, and then add core life skills training, you can’t help but create a winning formula that will set your child up for success in life.

It really doesn't matter what a child’s current fitness level or social skills are. To benefit from our program, they don’t have to be a “star athlete,” “socially outgoing” or already have good concentration skills.

We help them develop those skills. We produce happy kids and proud parents!

Child and Young Teen Beginners (ages 11-13) meet on Tuesdays from 6:00-7:15 pm, Thursdays 5:45-6:45 pm and Saturdays from 9:00-10:30 am.

Sensei Carol Middleton and the other instructors are wonderful teachers and role models for youngsters of all ages, but especially for tweens and teens. I have seen my daughter grow in confidence, strength and respect for self and others through classes with these kind, dedicated, knowledgeable people.
